The Cyprus Rally is organised by the Cyprus Automobile Association. Based in the city of Limassol it is run on the winding gravel roads of the nearby Troodos mountains.
The Cyprus Rally was part of the FIA's World Rally Championship from 2000 to 2006. In 2007 and 2008 the event was part of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship. The Cyprus Rally rejoined the World Rally Championship in 2009, taking advantage of the new regulations to become the only mixed surface event.
Cyprus is now the only rally of the year to feature a mixture of road surfaces. Day one takes place on asphalt roads, while days two and three continue to offer the sort of challenging gravel stages for which the event is renowned.
