Location - Paphos, Peristerona
Peristerona is a traditional Cypriot village located only a 15 minutes drive from the seaside town Polis Chrysochous and Latchi, and a 40 minutes drive from Paphos. This picturesque mountain village is famous for its efforts to maintain the beauty and the traditions of Cyprus.
The kafenion (where locals gather to socialize and chat covering everything from village gossip to political discussions over thick, strong coffee and maybe a game of backgammon) and village store are approximately 500 metres from the villa, with a larger supermarket being found in the neighbouring village of Skoulli approximately 5.3 kms away. Small tavernas serving simple village dishes are found in the neighbouring villages of Lysos and Steni both within 3.5 kms of the villa.
All visitors to Peristerona will notice that the roads are planted with local trees to add to the green feel of the area. This is a tradition carried on through the ages. Many of the locals work for the Cyprus Forestry Department and indeed the Pafos regional Forest Chief comes from the village. The surrounding countryside is also very picturesque and an extremely romantic place. At approximately 300 meters above sea level the soft undulating hills are covered with vines, olive trees, wild flowers and herbs, and fruit trees while most of the locations offer views to the sea and the Akamas Peninsula or to the Evretou dam. It is highly recommended to take the old road from Peristerona to Lysos village and then down to Pelathousa and on to Polis -the drive is absolutely beautiful.
Just because you prefer to stay inland does not mean you have to miss out on the beach experience. The coastal resorts of Polis and Latchi are both within 12 kilometres of the villa and both feature coarse sand and shingle beaches with sunbeds and umbrellas for hire and restaurants/snack bars providing refreshments. If you prefer a more remote option then venture a little further along the coast to the natural stretch of coarse sand, shingle and pebble that runs along the Argaka shoreline. For a day here you will need to bring your own beach mat and umbrella, refreshments can be found at one of the handful of tavernas scattered along the coastal road or you can take a cool box and lunch under the shade of the trees in one of the designated picnic areas.
Polis the principal town for this region huddles around a pedestrianised square, a great place to browse the many shops, enjoy a coffee while watching the world pass by or dine at any of the wide selection of restaurants, tavernas and cafes which radiate out from the centre.
The seaside resort of Latchi, with its well known sea food tavernas is only a few minutes drive from Polis, and here you will find an array of inviting sea-front tavernas with a superb selection of fresh fish and seafood served daily.
Beyond Latchi you will find the well known 'Baths of Aphrodite' and for the more adventurous explorer the protected Akamas Peninsular with its many walking trails. Take the time to explore some of the villages off the beaten path where you'll discover such delights as village cultural centres and museums, galleries, Churches and wineries with free wine tasting!
Polis and the surrounding villages count bowling, go-karting, fishing, cycling, watersports and scuba diving amongst the many activities on offer to visitors. The Minthis Hills Golf Course is just under a 30 minute drive away whilst the town of Paphos with its World Heritage Sites, modern shopping facilities, waterpark, Paphos Zoo and attractive harbour area is within a 40 minute drive.
There are 4 golf courses; Tsada Golf Course, Secret Valley Golf Course, Aphrodite Hills Golf Course and Elea Golf Course all within approximately a 20 minute to 1 hour drive.

What a wonderful place to spend an idyllic week. We didn't really want to wander far from the villa and beautiful gardens. Villa spotlessly clean, owner extremely kind and helpful. Being there is a beautiful experience, never to be forgotten. We'll be back next year for a perfect escape.

This villa was everything we had hoped it would be and more. The villa itself is simple and well equipped with air conditioning in the bedrooms for hotter weather. The garden is it's jewel - a peaceful and beautiful space split into different eating areas and full of birds and flowers. John takes great care of his garden and it is a well deserved joy! The pool is perfect for a cool down dip either after sight seeing or just when you have been lying around all day and when the sun leaves the sun beds by the pool, you can move up to the roof of the villa where there are more sun beds, a table and chairs and an area shaded by a vine. It is all so beautiful and we loved staying there. Set up in the hills slightly the villa always has a slight breeze, there is a lovely outlook from the roof area, the garden is secluded and private and the village itself very quiet. It is never the less very easy to get to Polis or Latchi for good restaurants and a larger supermarket and in the next door village of Steni there is an extremely good local restaurant, The Watermill. Peristerona itself has a decent small convenience store selling most basic things. All in all a perfect holiday made even more so by the way John met us at the villa (even though we arrived at 2000hrs) and made us feel so welcome. He and his family were so friendly as are all Cypriots - we will defiinitely be back!

Stayed in this villa for two nights with family ranging from 65 to 4 years. There was plenty of room for 6 of us in three large bedrooms. The villa is so well equipped, it had everything we could want, plenty of bedding and towels and all you need in the kitchen for cooking and serving meals. There is a TV and DVD player. The best thing by far about the property is the wonderful garden. There is a small private pool, which is fenced off, I thought this was an excellent safety feature. The flowers and tress are wonderful and the garden feels like a relaxing paradise. There is a bbq and stone oven you can use and four seating areas including a table on the roof. We watched birds flying into nests in the palm trees. There is nothing locally to walk to but a small supermarket is a short drive away. Polis and Latchi are the nearest resorts. We also visited the Steni museum which was close by. The owner of the villa goes the extra mile to make sure you are happy and comfortable in the villa. I would definitely recommend this villa to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway. It was also a brilliant price considering it has a private pool and free wi-fi.
We arrived to a warm welcome and introduction to the house by our friendly hosts John and Angela, and their daughter Koula. It didn't take long to realise we'd discovered a real treasure.
This was our third stay in the villa for three years in a row. It has become sort of a tradition when we come to Cyprus and the Paphos area. We wouldn't change the villa for any other place or hotel. We love to catch up with Yannis and Angela over tradional souvla and we truly enjoy the old village style, the serenity of the garden, the cool air at night after long hot summer day, and the refreshing pool. It is safe to say that we are already planning on booking our stay next year.
After spending two weeks at the Villa in 2012, when we came to Cyprus in 2013, there was no question where we wanted to stay. Our baby turned into an 18 months toddler, and he had a wonderful time exploring in the garden, helping to water the plants, and smell the flowers. He also loved the pool, and the secured fencing around it made us very comfortable with him walking around without us having to worry about him falling in. We consider this villa our second home where we come to relax and escape from the noise of New York City, relax under the natural shade of the trees in the garden, or sip wine at the roof top and watch the stars at night. We will definitely be coming back in years to come.
This was the second time we enjoyed this villa. Last year we were impressed with the garden and our new friends and decided to return to Peristerona to be sure about the quality of our vacation.
Everything was as good as a year ago although some improvements were made (the owner never stops thinking about their guests and what else could be done to assure the quality and safety of the stay). We enjoyed facilities of the villa as much as we could. The pool was always occupied by our 7-year old son who preferred it to the sea. My wife and myself had rest on the roof of the villa or in the shadow of the vine. And we all loved dining in the garden where there are arranged three different sites for having dinner (oops, I forgot the fourth one on the roof!).
The villa's location is just wonderful. It is about 10-15 minutes drive from the beach but it is never as hot as on the beach (thanks to the mountains and to the shady garden). We liked to drive to Cyprus cities to our friends or for site seeing. Lots of small but remarkable villages are around Peristerona. We loved to drive in the hills and mountains to this or that destination to find local souvenirs of all sorts or a cosy village tavern. Beautiful views, amazing walks in Trodos, lots of local wild nature - all these were enjoyed during our trips.
We wanted to stay in a quiet, rural location for a birdwatching holiday in Cyprus. Peristerona is a lovely little village and villa was just what we hoped for when we booked it. The villa is charming and the garden is absolutely stunning with many different seating areas and a small pool. The flowers and trees are lovely and we saw many birds in and around the garden trees. The owners are lovely and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, including coming over to cook us a lovely lunch on the barbecue which we all ate in the garden. We would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone. Although in a quiet location, the scenery around is stunning in spring (lovely orchards and fields of flowers), it is within easy distance of Polis and Latchi for tavernas, bars and the sea. A lovely holiday.
The villa was very big with enough place for four persons and the furniture, especially in the kitchen was excellent. There was a swimming pool in the wonderful garden and there was also a roof garden with a sea view. Peristerona is a very small and quaint village. It has a little supermarket.
Our stay was one to be remembered by all members of our family. The house is equipped and furnished with everything a family needs and the shady lovely garden offers whatever one wishes for a relaxing, and calming stay.
We have just returned from a week stay. We received a warm welcome and a plentiful supply of fresh fruit from their orchard from the owners, on arrival. The villa has three bedrooms, one with an ensuite, a separate bathroom, a large well equipped kitchen and sitting room. The villa is decorated in traditional Cypriot style and was spotlessly clean. It is equipped with all that was required for a very comfortable stay. The beautiful garden is a real joy of peace and tranquility, and it was hard for us to leave it for any sightseeing. Sitting in the garden and having the occasional swim in the excellent pool always seemed like a better option. Peristerona is a very pleasant and friendly village with easy access to Latsi, Polis and Akamas. We had some excellent food from Dawn at the cafe/restaurant opposite the museum in Steni - which is a five minute drive from the villa. All around fantastic and we will be returning.
We had the most wonderful two weeks staying at this beautiful villa in Peristerona! The house itself is very traditional and you feel the tranquility immediately when stepping in through the wooden gate, not knowing what to expect behind the traditional stone walls. But immediately, the garden full of green breathes at you. We loved the shade of the wine leaves, and even our 5 months old could play in the shade during the heat of the day. The garden is very smartly done and various table settings allow you to have dinner by the grill, under the wine leaves, or on the roof top with a sunset. Finally, the pool was very nice in to jump in and cool down during the day. Moving onto the house itself, we enjoyed the various rooms that allowed for privacy for our multi-family and for our baby to have his own room. While the house is very traditional, the appliances including the fridge (which is very spacious) and the washing machine are new. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed. We loved our stay and we are coming back for sure!
We spent three wonderful weeks here. The house is very comfortable and is perfectly maintained. The kitchen is very well equipped with a very large number of kitchenware. The garden is absolutely marvelous with numerous trees, flowers, aromatics plants and a lot of place to sit and relax.
We particularly appreciated the very warm welcome of the owners, who make you feel immediately at home.
The villa is located in a very small village in mountains of western Cyprus. It is about 10km from the nearest beach (two large Blue Flag beaches available in Polis town: quiet one in an exotic eucalyptus wood and the other one in Latchi preferred by families with children).
What make the villa unique are the owners and their garden which is very shady and gives fresh air even in hot afternoon. This beautiful garden is accompanied by a crystal clear pool comfortable for both adults and our 6-year son who spent hours practicing different types of swimming. There were 3 bedrooms and we had luxury to try all of them (my son preferred the largest one). Everything was perfectly clean and available for comfortable stay.
During the whole stay we felt non intrusive care for our comfort and pleasure from the villa owners who made their best to provide reliable service and help beyond contracted terms. Daily car trips bring lots of fun and findings. We have seen snail farm, visited wonderful dam, bought tasty and inexpensive oranges, studied museums and enjoyed motor boat trips. Living in a real Cyprus village lets you make a deep dive into the local culture.
The villa is situated in the small friendly village of Perisisterona overlooking a valley and the sea with the town of Polis on the coast. It's rural setting made for a quiet and chilled out stay, but not too far from all the amenities you're likely to need in Polis. We found it clean, comfortable and central to many cycle routes in the hills and forest close by which we made use of a lot on mountain bikes we hired locally from Wheelie Cyprus.
The owners made us very welcome and are a lovely couple who couldn't do more for us. The owner was a bit upset we couldn't eat more of his apricots that were literally dropping off the trees daily - we ate tons though!!! There's also a lemon, nectarine and peach tree in the garden. Neighbours friendly and we got a cheery wave from people in the village on the way to the local shop to pick up bread every morning.
The swimming pool is great and was very clean. The BBQ area was a little oasis and I spend quite a few hours at the end of the garden cooking with a cold beer in my hand in the shade of an olive tree. I would recommend the villa to anyone who wants a quiet, laid back stay on the western end of Cyprus - we'll be going back..........
Villa 27553 was a wonderful holiday base. The Garden was full of interest and shade - the pool was better than I expected. Cyprus was hot - but the air conditioning in the bed rooms was very good. Cooking equipment - both in the garden on the barbecue and in the kitchen was just what we wanted.
with my family this year we decided to visit Paphos and explore the Polis - Latsi area. we booked this villa for a week. we had a very warm welcome from Angela and John who were waiting for us. there was a complimentary fruit basket with figs, apricots, apples ... freshly picked from their orchid, just what we needed after a 2,5 hour drive from Nicosia! The villa was beautiful. very clean and up to high standard. The Cypriot traditional interior was excellently combined with the garden outside. There were days we just sat at the pool and enjoyed the relaxed environment and other days we would set out for field trips in the around area (Stavros tis Psokas, Akamas, Latsi, Pomos). we also took a stroll in the village which has an interesting byzantine museum. In the late afternoons we would enjoy a glass of wine on the roofgarden watching the sunset of the Akamas Bay.
We have visited this villa on a number of occasions and have enjoyed our stay each time. John, Angela and their family have always made us welcome and taken care of any special requests we have had. The house is spotlessly clean and if you need anything during your stay they are always on the end of the phone and come to the villa if needed. The garden is beautiful and one of the pleasures is the roses and the lovely fruit you can pick. The pool is shallow ,ideal for small children or dunking in the heat. The house is decorated in a cypriot style so do not expect too much but it is comfortable and has a fire in the winter which heats the water. The garden is gated and privacy was never an issue. There is a rooftop terrace with views, or try walking to the end of the lane to watch the sunsets over Polis.
Our stay in Villa 27553 was absolutely marvelous. Especially the garden was great with all kinds of places to sit and enjoy the surrounding flowers. The owners are very friendly people who make you feel at home. We even found wine, water, bread and food in the refrigerator when we arrived so it was not necessary to go to the supermarket immediately. It is a very quiet place where you can relax totally. We used the pool almost every day. Very nice place to stay with little children. We had a wonderful time in Peristerona.
