Originally intended to be the owners summer home, this villa can truly claim 'one of a kind' status as it has been specifically designed by it's artist / architect owner to his personal taste. The isolation of this villa allows it to enjoy complete privacy in a serene and tranquil location which would be difficult to rival. A combination of the artist's own work and memorabilia from travels all over the world results in an eclectic decor and a vast collection of displayed objects reflecting the distinctive character of both the owner and the property.

A compact kitchen is well equipped with all modern conveniences including a washing machine located on the basement level. The living area has the unusual feature of a raised ceiling with hidden lighting. The cosy working fireplace is surrounded by a combination of comfortable sofas and period furniture. Entertainment is provided by the large 52 inch television with home cinema and surround sound, DVD player, music centre and piano. A spacious double bedroom with wooden parquet flooring is located on this floor along with a small shower room.

Stairs lead to the basement level where a games room is found complete with table tennis, selection of board games, children's toys and a keyboard. A small shower room is also located on this level. Two further bedrooms are located on the first floor, one double bedroom and one twin bedroom both sharing a small shower room. A further twin bedroom and double bedroom are located on the ground floor and accessed externally from the living area. This double bedroom has a mezzanine level with a sloped ceiling, accessed by a solid wooden ladder to reach the two twin beds (suitable for children under 12 years only). This bedroom is also equipped with a television. These two bedrooms share a small shower room.

All five bedrooms, the living area and the kitchen are equipped with air conditioning units * for both cooling and heating. Central heating throughout. Two hairdryers are available and the owner has thoughtfully supplied pool towels. A baby cot, highchair and stair gate can be provided on request.

As this is an older, established property the beautifully tended grounds have had time to mature and are now bursting with vibrant colour and fragrance. The large free form swimming pool is surrounded by naturally shaded areas which provide the perfect respite from the midday summer heat. A wooden deck with seating extends partially over the swimming pool, underneath which you'll find a submerged ledge. A built in barbecue is provided allowing you to enjoy summer dining al-fresco and at the edge of the villa's small private olive grove is a basketball hoop for the more energetic holidaymaker.

Location - Larnaca, Maroni

As a base for exploring Cyprus, Maroni is ideally positioned approximately midway between Larnaca and Limassol and within a 30 minute drive of the island's capital of Nicosia. Split into two communities the inland and the coastal, the villa is situated in the coastal area, only 300 metres from the shoreline amongst the largely agricultural community. There is a single taverna within 100 metres of the villa with a much wider selection of restaurants and tavernas being found in the larger neighbouring village of Zygi, famed for its excellent seafood tavernas, approximately 2 kilometres away.

The immediate area features a natural coastline of largely dark sand and shingle coves. For a day here you will need to bring your own beach mat and umbrella. The nearest beach with organised facilities is the dark sand bay of Governors beach approximately 16 kilometres away. Governors Beach along with several other beaches in the Larnaca and Limassol districts is the proud recipient of a blue flag award. Of interest to scuba divers is the Zenobia dive site, where a capsized ferry of 172 metres sank off the Larnaca coastline in 1980 and now rests on her port side in approximately 40 metres of water. This site has been named as one of the top ten wreck diving sites in the world.

Larnaca, the oldest town in Cyprus is approximately 40 kilometres away. Once an important trading centre from where the islands main export of copper was shipped, the modern city is built over the ruins of the ancient city kingdom. The town has a unique atmosphere and is a wonderful place to explore on foot as you'll constantly make new discoveries, a coffee shop, a small Church etc or take a stroll along the palm lined promenade on the picturesque seafront and linger in one of the stylish pavement cafes. Cyprus has many churches, temples and monuments belonging to both Christianity and Islam as the island is split between Turkish and Greek communities. Larnaca is no exception to this having both the magnificent Orthodox Church of Ayios Lazaros built in the town over the tomb of St Lazarus and on the banks of the salt lakes, the Hala Sultan Tekke one of the Holiest Shrines of Islam built over the tomb of Umm Haram. Outdoor activities in Larnaca and the surrounding towns and villages include water-sports, go-karting, horse riding, bowling, a Cineplex and camel park.

Limassol, approximately 30 kilometres away, is the second largest town in Cyprus and home of the largest port. The modern city is a bustling commercial and residential centre and the old city is where traditional architecture survives in a maze of tiny streets and alleyways spanning out from the old harbour. Limassol is flanked on both sides by the ruins of two of Cyprus' ancient city kingdoms, Amathus to the east and Kourion to the west. Visits to places of interest in and around Limassol include archaelogical sites, museums, castles, ampitheatres and markets. More modern entertainment facilities include cinemas, theatres, shopping centres, markets, a Waterpark, bowling alley and even a small ice rink. A small Golf and Country Club nestles in the hills of the picturesque village of Vikla, 25kms from Limassol. With a reputation as a hospitable place with a lively nightlife scene, Limassol is host to two of the islands largest and most famous festivals, ‘The Carnival' held in the spring and ‘The Wine Festival' held in the month of September in the municipal gardens.

This was our first visit to Cyprus. We were greeted with lots of hospitality and the owner was very welcoming. Weather was good and kids loved the pool.

The Villa was clean and well proportioned for the group of 10. The owner left a generous welcome hammer and informed us of the best places to Buy fresh local produce. He also explained the few issues with the property following the explosion at the power station and had already arranged for the electrician to come and sort them out. We found the ower very helpful and engaging, he also ponted out some minor faults rather than let us find them out for ourselves. The Villa had all the amenities required to make the holiday comfortable, as the whether was excellent all week the games room hardly got used but the pool was excellent, good size and clean. The seating area over the pool made a great place for breakfast, afternoon tea and pre supper drinks while the veranda provided ample shade for lunch and a place of refuse from the sun. The pagoda at the far end of the pool was a popular place to sun bathe, however, you had to get up early to book your place - I never quiet made it! If you want to relax and get away from the crowds, this is a ideal location with plenty of good fish restuarants who also cater for non fish eaters although it is not always obvious, at one we had to ask and the proceeded to list dishes not on the menu. The closest fish restuarant even obliged us by cooking a whole lamb for us one evening.

Two years ago we booked another villa near larnaca but no as good as this one. And we didn't get the deposit back from the owner for no reason. But this year was great: superb location, quite, nice owner, the best destination for family with children. Thanks a lot.

We had a fabulous time in the villa. The price-quality ratio is really good and the location is ideal for a group of people who like to chill-out and enjoy the weather! Really nice Swimming pool, pleasant terraces, enough relaxing opportunities in and around the villa. The only disadvantage is the distance from other facilities (cities). You definitely need a (rental) car to see things on Cyprus itself and to get your shoppings done. On the other hand there is enough parking space around the villa. Thanks so much to the owner and the people from the villagroup.com!

Our host was very helpful, the location was lovely, I would describe it as semi-rural but within 5 mins drive of Zygi and the tavernas. Some very good restaurants in the villages in the hills behind. A very good welcome pack and relaxed owner. Cleaners came once a week and pool guy twice.

A little surprised by the villa on arrival, so many nick nacks, ornaments etc but then as a previous reviewer said it is the owners home so that's why they have their personal effects on display, and we became used to seeing them after a few days. Thoroughly enjoyed the large grounds, great for having BBQs! The shower rooms were very small, but perfectly functional it just may have been difficult if we'd had small children with us who need supervision because there's limited room.

We can see why the villa may not be to everybody's taste, but then you have to accept that it's the owners holiday home. We actually thought it was lovely, the kitchen is tiny but then we didn't go on holiday planning to spend much time slaving over a hot stove! Breakfast and a sandwich at lunchtime was about all we managed and we drove to Zygi in the evenings. The outdoor area is fantastic, great sized pool, huge garden and plenty of room to spread out.

Kitchen was a bit small, but found fantastic fish in the tavernas in Zygi, we practically ate out every night. Lovely pool, pleased we could take a dip late at night and not worry about the neighbours.
