A: We are a British company, part of The Villa Group, based in Paphos, Cyprus, specialising in renting quality villas in Cyprus to holiday makers, through the Internet. All of our villas and services are illustrated on this Internet website. This site provides a cost effective way of allowing guests to book directly and stay in quality, individual villas, at lower prices than if they were booking through a travel agent or tour operator.

Q: Aren't villas more expensive than a hotel?
A: As you explore the Cyprus villas we represent you'll see that many villas are often much cheaper than prices of hotels of the same quality standard. Villa rentals offer more privacy, more comfort, and more freedom than hotel rooms. Your villa also comes with a fully equipped kitchen, making a Cyprus vacation rental an economical choice. When two or more people are travelling, a rental is usually considerably less expensive than staying in hotel rooms and eating all of your meals out. When you factor in all the benefits and amenities of a private villa, you'll quickly realize that villas offer superb value. (Remember to compare rates per room/ per night).

Q: Are the rates per person or for the entire villa?
A: Our rates are for the entire villa.

Q: Are the prices in Sterling or Euros?

A: All prices quoted are in British Pounds Sterling.

Q: On which day do villa bookings usually commence?
Most villas have flexible changeover days, only being subject to availability, however a few villas stipulate a particular day. Please check with us.

Q: What is the required length of stay?
A: Normally a minimum 7-night stay is required. Some villas may accept shorter stays (5 nights), especially if it is close to your departure date or during the low season. Please note: a premium rate for shorter stays may be required.

Q: What are the check in and check out times?
A: Access to villas and village houses will be after 3pm to allow for cleaning and have to be vacated by 11am on day of departure unless otherwise agreed by us in writing.

Q: Is it possible to organise a late check out?
A: To guarantee a late check out from the villa you will need to book and pay for an additional nights stay, which will allow you to stay in the villa until your departure for the airport. If you prefer you can wait until you are in resort and speak with the villa owner/property manager directly. Generally a late check out can only be confirmed a few days before your scheduled departure as it depends on whether an arrival is expected in to the villa and whether cleaning schedules can be organised to accommodate. This is granted at the villa owner/property manager's discretion and unfortunately cannot be guaranteed. Depending on the number of extra hours required a small fee may apply.

Q: Is it possible to organise an early check in?
A: To guarantee an early check in at the villa you will need to book and pay for an additional nights stay. This will allow you immediate access to the villa as soon as you arrive in the resort.

Q: What is included in the welcome grocery pack?
A: few ‘first hour essentials' e.g. bread, butter, marmalade, jam, milk, fruit juice, water, tea, coffee and sugar. Enough for you to be able to have a hot or cold drink and a sandwich on arrival at the villa before you can visit a supermarket to stock up. Should you wish for any additional items to be included please do ask us and we will endeavour to arrange it on your behalf for an additional charge.

Q: How often will the villa be cleaned?
A: If your stay is for a duration of 8 nights or less, then the villa will be cleaned prior to your arrival and following your departure. If your stay is for 9 nights or more, in addition to the pre-arrival and post departure cleaning, a mid stay clean will be carried out. This is a light clean inside the property involving the dusting of surfaces, cleaning of bathrooms and kitchens, sweeping and mopping of floors and will include a change of bed linen and towels.

Q: What does maximum occupancy mean?
A: This is the maximum number of people the villa will accommodate (excluding infants). The villa owner reserves the right to refuse entry to the villa, or evict from the villa, if the number of persons occupying the property exceeds the stated maximum amount at anytime.

Q: Can we hold a party at the villa?
A: Generally the villa and its facilities are strictly for the use of the villa residents only. Visitors may be allowed however prior approval from the villa owner/property manager must be obtained.

Q: Is a security deposit required?
A: At the vast majority of our properties a security deposit is not currently required. Our accommodation is made available for letting on the understanding that the property will be left clean and tidy at the time of checkout and all personal waste removed from the property. You will be held responsible for any damage or breakages to the property during your stay. These must be reported to the villa owner/property manger immediately and appropriate compensation made so that the villa can be fully equipped for the next guests.

Q: Who will look after me during my stay?
A: Prior to your arrival you will be provided with the 24 hour local contact number for the person responsible for the property in which you are staying. If they are not able to meet you on arrival at the villa, rest assured they will call round to see you during your first 24 hours to introduce themselves, make sure you have settled in and answer any questions you may have regarding the property, its facilities, equipment, appliances etc.

Even if you have pre-booked a taxi transfer you should bring these directions with you as the taxi driver may not be familiar with the villa and will require your assistance in locating it.

A: Cyprus has recently introduced bus services connecting both Paphos and Larnaca airports to major towns on the island. For full information on all bus routes in Cyprus please refer to the website of the Cyprus Tourist Organisation (CTO) http://www.visitcyprus.com/

Q: What is the electricity voltage?
The voltage is the same as in the UK - 240 volts, with 3-pin plug sockets.

Q: Do the villas with satellite TV, have English channels?
A: Most satellite systems in Cyprus have over 100 channels however these are mainly a mixture of Greek, European and Arabic channels. Usually there are just a few English channels like CNN News, Euro News, BBC World and sometimes a film is shown in the evenings in English. It is only those villas with a Sky satellite system that will have proper English channels. If this is of importance to you, please check with us before making a booking.

Q: Do the villas have telephones or internet access?
A: None of our villas have the use of a telephone for telephone calls. To make telephone calls you can either, use local phone boxes, use your own mobile phone (see above) or purchase a pay as-you-go SIM card from your local Cytanet Office. A few of our villas have internet access, please refer to the villa description to check on your specific villa/s.

Q: Do mobile phones work in Cyprus?
A: Generally most GSM network mobile phones do work in Cyprus although at times reception can be erratic and some locations are unsuitable for mobile telephones (mountains), so we advise that you check with your airtime provider.

Q: What about insects and pests?
A: The villas and village houses are often located in rural areas. Indeed, for many people, this is one of their great attractions. However, having open countryside nearby or a location within a working village, 'friendly locals' can include more than the village priest. Ants, lizards, wasps, spiders, field mice, snakes, field rats etc. are not uncommon in Cyprus (after all, they were there first!) although no more numerous than anywhere else in the Mediterranean. So, if you or any of your party is likely to be squeamish about a possible visit from local wildlife, we recommend you check with us as to the suitability and location of your chosen accommodation before you book. Mosquitoes can be an annoyance and so we recommend that you bring a suitable lotion and/or plug-in repellent.

Q: Are the Safety Standards and Regulations the same as in the UK?
A: The safety standards and regulations in operation in Cyprus may not reach the same level as those we enjoy in the U.K. The monitoring, enforcement and compliance with these local regulations is a matter for the authorities of that country and the foreign supplier of the services concerned. The general standards of safety and hygiene, fire precautions etc, will generally be lower than in the U.K. Liability insurance requirements vary considerably from country to country, as does the responsibility placed on an organisation by local law. Please therefore take all precautions to protect yourself and your family whilst on holiday.

Q: Are your villa Star Ratings similar to those given to hotels?
Our Star Ratings are based not only on the quality and facilities of the villa, but also the location, privacy and views. They are purely to give a guide to compare with our other villas and are not the same grading as used by hotels.

Q. What can I do if I leave personal belongings in resort?
Please bear in mind it is your responsibility to ensure that all your belongings are removed from the villa at the end of your holiday. Before departing from your accommodation please ensure you check the villa thoroughly for your personal belongings i.e. the safety deposit box, wardrobes, drawers, under beds, bathroom cabinets, clothes line etc. Regrettably Rent Cyprus Villas.com is unable to return to you items discovered after your departure. Each villa requires servicing before the next arrival and cleaning teams will remove and discard any items left in the property following your departure. If you are able to notify us quickly enough we will do our best to track non- perishable items down for you and arrange for them to be stored at our office in Paphos from where you can arrange collection by courier.

Q: Are there any currency restrictions?
A: There is no limit on how much currency you take out of the UK. If arriving from or travelling to a country within the EU then amounts exceeding EUR 12,500 must be declared. We recommend you take most of your spending money in the form of travellers cheques (Sterling). You can also withdraw money from cash machines.

Q: Are Visas Required?
A: Visas are not required for EU passport holders although a full passport valid for at least 3 months from your date of return is required. If you do not hold an EU Passport, or require any further Visa information, we recommend that you contact our nearest Cyprus Embassy before you book your villa,to check whether a visa is required in your case.

Q: Are Vaccinations Required?
A: No inoculations or vaccinations are compulsory for UK residents, but the DHSS does recommend certain health precautions for travellers - see their leaflets SA40 and SA41 for details (obtainable from your local Dept. of Health office) or ask your doctor. Should you be taking any form of medication, take adequate supplies with you and carry them, as well as items like contact lenses, in your hand luggage only.

Q: What if I want to give you some feedback?
A: Then please do! We need your feedback to constantly improve our service and give us great new ideas on how to make your travelling lives easier. Get those fingers tapping and email us at feedback@thevillagroup.co.uk
